There is nothing that can change the past.
Fedasil Broechem newsletter May 2019:
We felt honoured and touched, when we received the message that our activity in May was going through.
We wanted to do something very special. For Daniël, and for all other children from the center and from his class.
I think that today we were also thinking all the time about our children. And how lucky they are.
We were incredibly happy to meet Daniël's classmates and their parents, an teachers.
Michael and Nathalie read a very interactive story about a bear.
And then Marie and Vicky took over...
The main activity of today was a kamishibai story about Daniël, that we were going to make together with the children. Michael read the story (written by Gitt) first...
And then everyone could color a drawing (sketches made by Vicky)...
Children from Daniël's class, and the residents of the refugees center, working together...
We were happy that Eva from "Iedereen Leest" joined us again today...
Vicky has also brought wooden hearts, where we could write something personal for Daniël...
We all went to hang the hearts in a tree, that had been planted during the farewell ceremony two weeks ago...
It was a symbolic and heartwarming moment.
Finally we read the kamishibai story, and children went to do what they love to do, when the sun is shining: play football, swing, playing in the sand, run around and bike...
Keep on biking, Daniël-boy, the sound of a bike bell will always make us think of you. Rest in peace, lovely child...
